The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, and the evil way.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.
The Essence of the Law: “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
Who among you fears the LORD? Who obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light, trust in the name of the LORD, and stay [his mind] upon his God.
Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, [true fear of God must be experienced].
The Value of Wisdom: My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding,
if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart to fear and honor Your name.
Jesus Teaches the Fear of God
“... And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to [reverently] fear the Lord our God for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day.
2 Kings 17:39
But the LORD your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.
Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul.
The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy.
But to man He said, Behold, the reverential and worshipful fear of the Lord--that is Wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
In mercy and truth atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the LORD one departs from evil.
And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.
My covenant was with him, one of life and peace, and I gave them to him that he might fear Me; So he feared Me and was reverent before My name.
2 Corinthians 7:1
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
My flesh trembles for fear of You, And I am afraid of Your judgments.
Do you not fear Me?’ says the LORD. ‘Will you not tremble at My presence, Who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea, By a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it? And though its waves toss to and fro, Yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it.
1 Chronicles 16:30
Tremble and reverently fear before Him, all the earth's peoples; the world also shall be established, so it cannot be moved.
1 Samuel 12:24
Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.
The reverent fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.
And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him--the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord-- And shall make Him of quick understanding, and His delight shall be in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, neither decide by the hearing of His ears.
Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy.
Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.
Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes.
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; he is their help and their shield.
The LORD has been mindful of us...He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great.
Let those who fear the LORD now say, “His mercy endures forever.”
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Then will they call upon Me but I will not answer; they will seek me early and diligently but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord, would accept none of my counsel, and despised all my reproof, therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way and be satiated with their own devices.
For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the careless ease of [self-confident] fools shall destroy them.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
The fear of the LORD prolongs days, but the years of the wicked will be shortened.
In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death.
The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility.
The fear of the LORD leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction; he will not be visited with evil.
By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches and honor and life.
The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.
Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; the fear of the LORD is His treasure.
Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name.
Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.
Who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear.
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy.
For all nations shall come and worship before You, for Your judgments have been manifested.
