 ²⁰ And he who received the seed into stony places, the same is he who hears the word [spoken by the Spirit], and quickly with joy receives it;

 ²¹ Yet has he no root in himself, but endures only for awhile; for when tribulation or persecution rises because of the word, he is eventually offended.

 ²² He who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word; but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
