John 1:1,3

Display Chapter and Footnotes

 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [Christ is the Word of God; his name is the word of God. The Bible is not the Word; the Bible is scriptures. "The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning. Then I was by him, as one brought up with him; and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him." Pro 8:22-30.]

 3 All things were made by him; and there was nothing made without him. [him is Jesus.]

Colossians 1:16

 16 For by him all things were created that are in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers. All things were created by him and for him;

 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the visible things were not made from anything we can see. [The worlds were created by the Lord Jesus Christ, who created all things in heaven and earth, and whose name is "the word of God." As George Fox said, "To think the Bible framed the worlds is ridiculous." The word is the Spirit, not a scripture. This one of several scriptures that prove the word, the word of God, and the word of the Lord all mean Christ, not the Bible.]

 2 Has in these last days spoken to us in his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, and through whom he created the worlds; [The last days were proclaimed by Peter at Pentecost, which was after the death and accession of Jesus. Paul, the believed author of this letter, was taught the gospel by the Spirit of Jesus, and not Jesus in the flesh. In this verse "God...has spoken to us by his son," means that Christ speaks to us from the word in our heart. So today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. Heb 4:7,12:25. ]

 5 For they are willingly ignorant of this, that the heavens were made long ago, and the earth formed out of the water and by water and by the word of God, [Jesus, whose name is "the word of God," created all the heavens and the earth, and all that is in them.]

 6 Through which [word and water] the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. [In the time of the flood, no scripture existed, and scriptures cannot create or destroy.]

 7 But by the same word the present heavens and the earth are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people. [These three verses clearly prove that "the word" or "the word of God" is not the Bible; instead the word is the all-powerful, living creator and judge: Jesus, the word of God, who created all things in heaven and earth, and whose name is "the word of God." To think the Bible created the worlds is ridiculous; to think the Bible destroyed the world is ridiculous; to think the Bible can destroy ungodly people is ridiculous; and so it is ridiculous to call the Bible "the word." Jesus and "the word" are one in the same.]

Psalms 33:6

 6  The heavens were made by the word of the LORD, and all their host by the breath of his mouth. [Note, "his mouth;" the word of the Lord is a living being, not a book, not the Bible, not a scripture, not a writing; and that being is the Lord Jesus Christ, who created all things in heaven and earth, and whose name is "the word of God." Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Heb 11:3]

1 Corinthians 8:6

 6 Yet for us there is only one God, the Father, from whom all things exist,1 and for whom we exist; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom all things are made, by and through whom we exist.
