|2 Timothy 2:11|
11 This is a faithful saying: If we have died with him, we will also live with him. [To have died with the Lord is to have had your sinful nature mortified and crucified on the inward cross of self-denial, and to have undergone the baptism of death: Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, Rom 6:4; and being buried with him in the true baptism, you also rise with him. Col 2:12. This is not to be presumed; it must be experienced.]
38 But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you ask; can you drink the cup that I drink? And be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?"
39 And they said to him, "We can." And Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; [The cup of which Jesus shall drink is to suffer crucifixion, and the baptism is his death in the flesh.]
4 Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death; so as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. [Burial, baptism into death, and newness of life are not to be imagined, assumed, or presumed: Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Cor 5:17. From the Word of the Lord within: "The new life is as radically different as a man who has lived underground his whole life, suddenly coming above ground to see the sun, the sky, the plants, the animals, the wind, the stars."]
11 In whom you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision performed by Christ.2 [Christ is the anointing, which teaches you all things and which circumcises your heart, cutting off the foreskin of sin and selfishness to become an inward Jew, inwardly circumcised.]
12 Buried with him in baptism, in which also you are risen with him through faith of the operation of God, who has raised him from the dead.3
10 That I may know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and even be conformed to him in his death; [Paul writes of experiencing the power of His resurrection. If you will reign with him, you must suffer with him; 2 Tim 2:12. if you will live with him, you must die with him; 2 Tim 2:11. and if you die with him, you must be buried with him, Rom 6:4. and being buried with him in the true baptism, you also rise with him. Col 2:12, Eph 2:6.]
