Display Chapter and Footnotes

21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran [ahead of me]. I have not spoken to them, yet they have prophesied. [Only follow; do not run ahead of the Lord's leading you exactly where to go and what to do and say. From the Word of the Lord within: " I was surely sent; as I was sent, so too must you be. Master following. You do as God has directed and only that; we do as He tells us. Everyone hear what the Spirit says; this you do." George Fox described those who run ahead : "Those who run before their guide are vagabonds and wanderers."]

2 John 1:9

Display Chapter and Footnotes

9 Whoever runs ahead and does not remain in the teachings of Christ, does not have God. He who remains in the teachings of Christ, has both the Father and the Son.3 [Only follow; do not run ahead of the Lord's leading you exactly where to go and what to do and say. From the Word of the Lord within: "Regarding those who run ahead, they are abandoned with cruel, hard knocks. To serve without hearing is putting your life in danger. Listen to my advice; He will not spare the flock."]

Genesis 10:9

Display Chapter and Footnotes

9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD. Therefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. [Nimrod was not a man of God. He did not follow the Lord's directions. Instead he was running ahead of the Lord, following his own will. He is the example to be avoided if you ever want to serve God, which requires you to hear what to say before saying it. From the Word of the Lord within: "The godly wait for my instructions for many things shall I come want done. I was surely sent; as I was sent, so too must you be. You do as God has directed and only that; we do as He tells us. Speak only what you are told to speak."]
