16 Who alone has immortality, dwelling in the light that no [unregenerated] man can approach; whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen. [But his regenerated saints dwell as a part of him in that light.]

17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights,2 with whom there is no variableness, neither is there a shadow cast with his turning. [When the source of light turns, there is no shadow to be seen. God is light and the source of all goodness, virtue, kindness, mercy, wisdom, purity, cleanliness, gentleness, self-control, honor, peace, faith, humility, love, joy, knowledge, life, power, glory, holiness, and light.]

1 John 1:5-7

5 This then is the message that we have heard from him and declare to you: that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. [For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. Psa 36:9]

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not [live in] the truth. [To walk in darkness is to walk still sinning. From the Word of the Lord within: "Walking in the light is to be guided through life by God; walking in darkness is making your own decisions as to what to do and say."]

7 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.3 [To walk in the light is to be guided by God, (who is light), in what to say and do. All men sit in darkness and walk in darkness until the light arises in their hearts. From the Word of the Lord within: "Light comes from faith in the voice." You can be walking in the light and in fellowship, and then through lack of watchfulness have an unintentional slip; but that can be forgiven and cleansed.]
