|1 Corinthians 14:34-35|
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches. For it is not permitted for them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as the law also said.4 [Notice, this applies to women not yet led by the Sprit, and still under the law: But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Gal 5:18. Women in the church led by the Spirit of God were expected to prophesy, (for edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 1 Cor 14:3), proven by Paul requiring them to keep their heads covered when prophesying or praying, 1 Cor 11:13, and proven by Acts: 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, said God, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all men; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.]
35 And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is a shame for women to speak in the church. [Paul is speaking about newly initiated women, not under control of the Sprit. A mature woman in Christ needs not to ask her husband anything to learn: But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. But the anointing that you have received from him abides in you, and you do not need any man to teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you all things and is truth, and is no lie; and even as it has taught you, abide in him. 1 John 2:20,27]
|1 Timothy 2:11-12 |
11 Let the woman learn in quietness with all submission.
12 And I do not allow a woman to teach or to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.3
