9 But as it is written, "Man's eye has not seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, the things that God has prepared for those who love him."2 [This refers to Isaiah 64:4, which says: men have not heard, nor perceived by ear, nor has the eye seen a God beside you, who acts for the one who waits for Him. The key difference: Isaiah reads waits, 1 Cor reads love. So to love God is to wait on Him: we wait on Him to hear His words that teach us, convict us, encourage us, and guide us — that is loving God.]

2 Man's eye has not seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, the things that God has prepared for those who love him; but God has revealed them to us by his spirit. The Spirit of God reveals to us, (by revelation), what God has prepared for those who love him. There is no other way to know except by revelation. So the things of God are not known, but as they are revealed by his spirit; and that which may be known of God is revealed in them; for God has shown it to them. Rom 1:19. So God reveals his secrets and mysteries inside a man, in a man's heart, where you hear and see the mysteries revealed. True Christianity is an inward experience; but all the outward reading, outward praying, outward rituals, outward ceremonies, outward talking, and outward singing, yields nothing of the knowledge of God.

Note, this verse refers to Isaiah 64:4, which says: men have not heard, nor perceived by ear, nor has the eye seen a God beside you, who acts for the one who waits for Him. Isaiah reads, who waits for Him; 1 Corinthians reads, who love Him. To love God is to wait on Him: we wait on Him to hear His words that teach us, convict us, encourage us, and guide us — that is loving God. As Jesus said:

"He who has my commands, and obeys them, it is he who loves me; and he who loves me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will show myself to him.
(we have to wait on God to hear His commands)

If a man loves me, he will keep my words [obey me, practice my teachings]; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him. John 14:21,23.
