1 John 1:7-10

7 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.3 [To walk in the light is to be guided by God, (who is light), in what to say and do. All men sit in darkness and walk in darkness until the light arises in their hearts. From the Word of the Lord within: "Light comes from faith in the voice." You can be walking in the light and in fellowship, and then through lack of watchfulness have an unintentional slip; but that can be forgiven and cleansed.]

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [If we say we have no sin, thinking we are already righteous, we have no motivation to go to Him, seeking His help to become clean, pure, and acceptable to God. All men are sinners, defiled by evil in their hearts, until we are purified and freed from all sin by the power of God.]

9 If we do not deny our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [When we go to Christ to sit and wait on Him, as He (the Light) shows us our sins and we acknowledge them, He will forgive and purify us of that sin. We believed Christ, and our obedience shows that we love the truth who is Christ.]

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. [When we wait on God, as He searches our heart to put our sins before us, if we deny what He shows us, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. We didn't believe Christ, showing that we hate Christ.]

John 16:8

Display Chapter and Footnotes

8 And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong [reprove all men] concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment.1 [Every man has his day of visitation from the Holy Spirit, when he hears the Lord's quiet and anonymous reproofs. Those, who do not believe Him, (his words of reproof), remain in condemnation. But if a man heeds His reproofs, the Lord pours his Spirit and words on him, Pro 20:23,33; teaching a man how to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; to then finally judge a man, gathering his wheat, (his works of love, energized and motivated by operational faith), into the barn and burning up the chaff (works of sin) with unquenchable fire the Holy Spirit's baptism of death to the selfish spirit of Satan in a man.]
