57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 And cast him out of the city and stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
59 They stoned Stephen, as he called upon God saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
1 Now about this time Herod the king stretched out his hand to afflict some of the church.
2 He had James, the brother of John, executed [beheaded] with a sword.
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to arrest Peter also. This occurred during the Days of Unleavened Bread [during Passover].
4 And when Herod had apprehended Peter, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaterions of soldiers [sixteen total] to guard him; intending after Passover to bring him before the people [for trial].
14 And more and more believers were added to the Lord, being multitudes of both men and women,
15 So that they brought their sick out into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 And a multitude came from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people, and those who were tormented by unclean spirits; and they were all healed, every one.
17 Then the high priest and all those who were with him, that is the sect of the Sadducees, rose up. They were all filled with indignation,
18 And they arrested the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
