Ephesians 4:17-24

 17 Therefore, this I say and testify in the Lord, that from this time forward you must not walk as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, [which is to think thoughts with the carnal mind of man, which must be destroyed, to be replaced by the mind of Christ. From the Word of the Lord within: "Your thoughts are not my thoughts. At best your thoughts are a vain hiss. It is many thoughts that make the mortal man. Those who follow their own brain will weep and mourn; there will be great pain. The mind is a terrible thing."]

 18 Having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.

 19 Who being past feeling [pangs of conscience], have given themselves over to fleshly indulgences, to work all impurities with greediness.

 20 But you have learned differently from Christ;

 21 Assuming you have actually heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus.6 [We begin hearing the small still voice. We listen to hear His spoken words and learn from the Holy Spirit and the Word and Light in our hearts; ready to teach us all things and lead us into all truth; ready to teach us what to deny and how to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world; and ready to purify us so that we might serve Him and do virtuous works of glory to the Father. When we are sufficiently crucified, Jesus himself appears and speaks to us with a voice like thunder over the waters described in many Old Testament passages. As we hear His voice for the first time, He dispenses final judgment to us, crushes Satan under our feet, and we pass from death to eternal life. From the word of the Lord within: "You will hear the truth at final judgment. Truly, I say to you, all the truth is magnificent; you will marvel when you see it. Even Job marveled at what he saw. To be in Jesus is to be in truth."]

 22 Strip yourselves of your former nature that controlled your conduct, which corrupts itself through lusts and desires that spring from delusion;

 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

 24 And put on the newly created nature [of Christ], which is created in God's image of true righteousness and holiness.7

7 Strip yourselves of your former nature that controlled your conduct, which corrupts itself through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; For if you live after the flesh, you will die; but if through the Spirit you mortify [put to death] the deeds of the body, you will live. Rom 8:13. Therefore mortify [put to death] the deeds of the body which are of the earthly life; fornication, impurity, inordinate affections, evil lusts of the flesh, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Col 3:5. Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires [lusts and affections]. Gal 5:24. The cross is to humbly get quiet to listen for his word within your heart, then you must wait to hear Him, and then you must obey Him. Crucifixion of your lusts and desires occurs by obeying the Lord's voice instead of your will (His will, not your will); this is to deny yourself and pick up your cross and follow Jesus.]

your conduct, which corrupts itself through lusts and desires that spring from delusion. Lust is a delusion, originally fostered by the devil. You lust for something because you think it is good, (like Eve was fooled by the devil that the fruit from the tree of knowledge would make her wise, and was good to the eye), and will make you happy. We are sold by word of mouth and advertising that if we had a new house, a new car, a new dress, a new cell phone, a vacation in Hawaii, a drink, a drug, a body, a special food, a special drink — if only we had this or that we would be happy; but then we get it, and immediately focus our attention on getting something else for satisfaction. The continual barrage of deluding temptations are fostered by the Spirit of Satan; by their lying promise, they create lust for something, which is delusion. There is no satisfaction in this life, until you join with the life of God; he is lasting satisfaction, eternal peace and joy. The joys of the earth are transitory, but the joy in the kingdom is eternal. The pleasures of the earth are not filling, and only create the hunger for more. Some people never stop to realize that however much they get, happy to be still looking for something more, expecting the world to provide it; to those the Lord said: woe to you who are full! For you shall hunger. Luke 6:25; if you are content with ever seeking the things and pleasures of the world, you will be very discontent in the next life. From the Word of the Lord within: "Most people go through life never needing, never seeking a lasting solution; after death there is a sense of regret over their life."

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And put on the newly created nature [of Christ], which is created in God's image of true righteousness and holiness. Note! Paul is telling us that salvation is to be renewed into the image of God, like Adam was in before he fell, and which results in true righteousness and holiness.
