|John 16:8-11 |
8 And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong [reprove all men] concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment.1 [Every man has his day of visitation from the Holy Spirit, when he hears the Lord's quiet and anonymous reproofs. Those, who do not believe Him, (his words of reproof), remain in condemnation. But if a man heeds His reproofs, the Lord pours his Spirit and words on him, Pro 20:23,33; teaching a man how to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; to then finally judge a man, gathering his wheat, (his works of love, energized and motivated by operational faith), into the barn and burning up the chaff (works of sin) with unquenchable fire — the Holy Spirit's baptism of death to the selfish spirit of Satan in a man.]
9 Of sin, because they do not believe in me. [When a man hears the gentle, anonymous call to forsake his evil ways, if he repents, God gives him more of His spirit and hunger to seek Him. Those, who do not believe Him, (the Lord's words of reproof), and continue sinning until death, suffer a hard judgment; and the words that man heard and ignored will be remembered, which same words will judge him, John 12:47-48, to his great shame and sorrow. The light shines in the darkness; and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:5. For everyone who does evil deeds (sins) hates the light (so hates Christ, who is the light) and does not come to the light for fear his deeds will be exposed and reproved. John 3:20. If we heed His reproofs and seek His kingdom and His righteousness as our life's first priority, by doing the one thing needed, (to sit at his feet and listen to His spoken words, Luke 10:39-42 ), grace first teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, removing the sins from our heart, one at a time; this function of the Holy Spirit is named the Ministry of Condemnation.]
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you see me no more. [Then the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father and speaking from in the name of Jesus, having first redeemed us from all sin and purified us, teaches us how to live soberly, godly, and righteously in this present world, Tit 2:11-14; so that we are eventually able to practice righteousness, just as Jesus practiced it: let no man deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, even as He (Jesus) is righteous. 1 John 3:7. This function of grace, teaching us how to practice righteousness, is named the Ministry of Righteousness, which is much more glorious than the Ministry of Condemnation.]
11 Of judgment,2 because the ruler of this world [in every man] has been condemned. [The Spirit of Satan is in every man's heart, making man a slave to sin, until the Lord gradually purifies a man; and then upon his second appearance in your heart, when he brings salvation to those expecting and waiting for him, he crushes Satan under your feet, and destroys him with the brightness of his coming. 2 Cor 4:6, Heb 9:28, Rom 16:20, 2 Thes 2:8]
2 Of judgment. Every man is judged by the Spirit of Christ, either at death when a man dies in his sins, or at the end of his spiritual journey that delivers from sin by Christ through the operation of grace, which both charges and removes sin.
From the Word of the Lord within: The end is sympathetic judgment and release from sin. All the help of the tested word cannot exceed that of judgment."
All the help we receive by hearing, and accepting after testing what we hear as having come from the Lord, and then obeying - the sum total of all that help, (which is unbelievable to most people), does not compare with the changing help we receive at judgment. At judgment, the head of Satan is crushed, the residual sin is burnt away by the brightness of his coming, our heart is completely circumcised, the purification is complete — and then we receive the fruit of the Spirit, which frees us from the laws we have been given, and lets our heart hear, see, and feel the Spirit continually — so that we walk in love, according to the continual promptings of the Spirit, while energized by the Spirit — we cease from our own works, our mind is completely destroyed and ceases operation, as we receive a new heart, mind, and Spirit.
The Lord wants those who have journeyed to the end of grace, to approach His judgment with boldness and confidence, buoyed by the wonderful, purifying operations of his grace already received, and certain of even greater help to be received in final judgment.
