Luke 9:35

Display Chapter and Footnotes

35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to [believe, and obey] him." [This applies to all of us. We must hear the Lord speak to us and then obey; to obey is to follow. From the Word of the Lord within: "Follow precisely; do not deviate."]

Hebrews 5:9

9 And being made perfect, he [Jesus] became the author and source of eternal salvation to all those who heed and obey him;1 [Salvation is to be delivered (freed) from all sin, even the desires, through persistent obedience to the Spirit that mortifies the selfish human spirit on the inward cross of self-denial. You must persistently and patiently wait for Him in silence to hear his commands, as you listen and watch; then heed and obey Him.]

1 John 2:3,5:2-3

3 And by this we know that we know him: if we keep [obey] his commands. [The commands we hear as He speaks to us from within our heart; that is the word of faith that the Apostles preached.]

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commands.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep [obey] his commands; and his commands are not burdensome. [To keep his commands is to fulfill the law, walking in the light as children of light, in loving obedience to the total control of the Lord's Word and Light in your heart, (who is the Spirit of Christ), which Word and Light control and supply your thoughts, words, and deeds. Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I say to you; the Son can do nothing of himself [by his own will], but only does what he sees the Father do. For whatever things he [the Father] does, these are also likewise done by the Son." John 5:19. Jesus did nothing in his will, only by the Father's will; this is what it means when you pray: thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. All true sons do nothing of themselves, only what they are commanded to say and commanded what to do. We have to learn from Him and be changed by Him to be able to only do the Father's will on earth, the same as the Father's will is done in heaven by the angels.]

John 14:15,23,24

15 If you love me, you will obey my commands. [Obey the commands you hear Him speak to you from within your heart; the words He speaks to you from within you heart impart the life of God. John 6:63. To hear Him, you must wait, listen, and watch; then obey what He commands you to do — if you love Him.]

23 And Jesus answered and said to him, "If a man loves me, he will obey my spoken words; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him5 [in his heart; and they live in a kingdom, into which you are translated. When you are translated into the kingdom, (while still alive on earth), you also see Him. Jesus appears in your heart. Jesus is revealed. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them, and be their God." Rev 21:3.]

24 He who doesn't love me, does not obey my spoken words; and the spoken words that you hear are not mine, but are the Father's who sent me.

John 12:47-48

47 If anyone hears my words, and does not obey [carefully attend to, observe] them, I do not judge him; for I came not to judge the world [every man], but to save the world [every man].

48 He who rejects me and does not receive my words, has one for his judge — the words that I have spoken [to Him] will judge him in the last day.7 [He knocks in every man's heart; he quietly pleads anonymously for us to depart from our evil, selfish ways. If we do not keep [practice, obey] his words, when we die, (the last day), we will remember the words of him pleading with us to depart from evil, and those words will judge us. From the Word of the Lord within: "All men are without excuse; if I were silent, they would have an excuse. Every man has heard the call to repent."]

Romans 6:16

16 Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves to obey, you are the slaves of whom you obey; whether of sin that leads to death, or of obedience that leads to righteousness?5 [Obedience leads to being righteous. Without obedience, listening to and obeying the Word of God in your heart, you are a slave to sin. Jesus strongly confirms this: Truly, Truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. John 8:34. We through the Spirit, by faith, patiently wait for the hope of righteousness. Gal 5:5]

Jeremiah 7:23

23 But this I commanded them, saying: 'Listen to and obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk completely in the ways that I command you, so that it may be well with you.'2 [To hear the voice of the Lord we must patiently and persistently listen in humble silence; then we must obey what he commands completely. To obey is to follow the Lord, which all must do in order to be a true disciple. From the Word of the Lord within: "Follow precisely; do not deviate."]

1 Peter 1:22

Display Chapter and Footnotes

22 Purify your souls by obeying the truth into unfeigned love6 of the brothers, dearly loving one another fervently with a pure heart; [This has been mistranslated as having purified your souls. It is impossible to have purified your soul and still be without salvation; so they have yet to purify their souls. The original Greek Net Bible shows that "purify" in this verse is not past tense, it is present tense; and Footnote 5 in the original Greek Net Bible shows this verse to read "pure heart" in early manuscripts; later manuscripts eliminated the word "pure" to simply read "heart" not "pure heart."]

Acts 3:22-23

22 For Moses truly said [about Jesus] to the forefathers, 'From among you the Lord your God shall raise up a prophet like me from your brothers; you shall listen to him in everything, whatever he says to you.

23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul that does not listen to and obey that prophet will be destroyed and removed from the people.'2 [This also applies to all men in all nations for Jesus, the light in every man, anonymously pleads with men to turn from their evil ways; but most men in their darkness ignore those pleas because they love their selfish, sinful life. If a man heeds those pleas, the Lord pours more of His Spirit on them, giving them a hunger to seek Him further. When they die, those who did not wait to listen and then obey the Lord will be banned from heaven, and their souls will be destroyed. From the Word of the Lord within: "Everyone is expecting Jesus to be their excuse. All men are without excuse; if I were silent, they would have an excuse. I've warned them and given them the requirements and preached the exclusions; they should not expect anything else or conclusion. The way is clear: listen and obey."]

Revelation 3:3

3 Remember therefore what you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.2 If you do not wake up and watch, I will come upon you like a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
