Matthew 3:11-12

11 I indeed baptize you with water to repentance; but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire; [Just like the 120 disciples of Jesus were baptized with tongues of fire in Jerusalem during Pentecost. Acts 2:3.]

12 Whose winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor and gather his wheat into the barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."3 [The Lord separates the wheat from the chaff, the precious from the vile. The wheat is the words of life that he has spoken to you, which words are grafted into your heart to form Christ within; the chaff is your selfish, sinful nature of its lusts, affections, and pride, which after separation is then burnt to oblivion by the devouring fire and everlasting burnings of Jesus, the pure word of life, which is fire. This is the baptism of death, the final step before translation into the kingdom of God, to be there while on earth and then forever.]

Galatians 5:6

6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision, nor uncircumcision benefits anything except faith, which is energized and demonstrated by works [thus operating] through love. [Faith must be operational faith, evidenced by obedient works of love for God, which is obedience to the promptings of the Spirit of God's direction; such is the love of God. The first works of love for God are: a) to wait in humble silence as you listen and watch for His commands, and b) then to obey His spoken commands that you hear to repent from the sins He reveals in your heart. Notice! Paul agrees with James, who wrote, "faith without works is dead," James 2:20-24. John wrote, "he who practices truth comes to the light, so that his deeds may be shown to have been produced (effected, formed, prompted, energized) through God." John 3:21; such works are the only works that survive passing through the fire, which every man must go through. From the Word of the Lord within: "What is the evidence of your belief? — operational faith. Faith is to hear the Word of God and obey."]

22 See how faith energized and motivated his works, and by works his faith was made perfect. [Not in works of the law, which works are selected and performed by man's will; but works in obedience to God's specific direction — works of loving obedience to God's orders — thy will being done, on earth as it is in heaven — operational faith. The first works of love for God are: a) to wait in humble silence as you listen and watch for His commands, and b) then to obey His spoken commands that you hear to repent from the sins He reveals in your heart.]

23 And the scripture was fulfilled that said, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed [accounted] to him as righteousness; and he was called the Friend of God." [Righteousness is imputed when you receive faith with the fruit of the Spirit, against which is no law, to then walk in love, obeying the continuous commands of Christ; this occurs at the death of your selfish spirit on the inward cross of self-denial. When you possess the fullness of Christ, that ends imputation, and you are righteous as He is righteous.]

24 You see then how a man is justified by works, and not only by faith.5 [A man is not justified by works of the law; instead a man is justified by works of obedience to God's voice, which works are evidence of operational faith. Our faith must motivate us to seek to hear God's voice, to believe his words to be true, and then our faith must energize us to perform works commanded that we hear him speak to us . Otherwise our faith is the lip service of the hypocrites.]

John 3:21

21 But he who practices truth comes to the light, so that his deeds may be shown to have been produced [effected, formed, prompted, energized] through God." [Those who have been experiencing the Spirit's removal of sin from their hearts, love the light and eagerly come to the light for further destruction of sin. Those who have been freed from sin, eagerly come to the light to be directed by God to do works of love, to their joy and God's glory: for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. Eph 2:10. A man comes to the light by waiting on God in humble silence, watching and listening in hope of change by Jesus. Those who come to the light, love Christ, as evidenced by their obedience to the truth of what the Light and Word reveals to them; and they come to see more light, which then guides them in all words and deeds.]

13 That man's work will be exposed. For the day [of the Lord] will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will try and test every man's work, of what sort it is.2 [For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision, nor uncircumcision benefits anything; but faith, which is energized and demonstrated by works [thus operating] through love. Gal 5:6. Faith must be demonstrated by works of love, which is obedience to the promptings of the Spirit of God's direction; such is the love of God. But he who practices truth comes to the light, so that his deeds may be shown to have been produced (effected, formed, prompted, energized) through God." John 3:21; such works are the only works that survive passing through the fire, which every man must go through.]

14 If any man's work survives, which he has built upon the foundation, he will receive a reward.3

15 If any man's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, yet as through fire.
