6 By mercy and truth iniquity [sin] is purged [from the heart], and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. [What truth purges evil to make you free of sin?—the word of truth that you hear spoken to you by the Lord. If you continue in my word, you are true disciples; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32. In what word are you to continue or abide and obey?—the word that is within your heart to hear and obey, Rom 10:8, Deu 30:11-15.]

7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you really are unleavened. For Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.
11 I indeed baptize you with water to repentance; but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire; [Just like the 120 disciples of Jesus were baptized with tongues of fire in Jerusalem during Pentecost. Acts 2:3.]
12 Whose winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor and gather his wheat into the barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."3 [The Lord separates the wheat from the chaff, the precious from the vile. The wheat is the words of life that he has spoken to you, which words are grafted into your heart to form Christ within; the chaff is your selfish, sinful nature of its lusts, affections, and pride, which after separation is then burnt to oblivion by the devouring fire and everlasting burnings of Jesus, the pure word of life, which is fire. This is the baptism of death, the final step before translation into the kingdom of God, to be there while on earth and then forever.]
|1 John 3:8 |
8 He who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God is revealed [in us], that he might destroy [in us] the works [sin] of the devil.4 [Let no man deceive you, saying that you can still be sinning and belong to God; those still sinning serve the devil. Christ is revealed in our flesh to destroy the works of the devil, by condemning the secret sins in our heart, and then destroying even our desire to sin. Paul confirms Jesus destroying the works of the devil in each purified believer: "the God of peace shall crush Satan under your feet shortly." Rom 16:20.]
