|Romans 13:12 |
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.4 [Near for these believers is the day when the light of God, Jesus the morning star, appears in their heart. The works of darkness are sin, walking according to the lusts and desires of your flesh instead of walking in the light with God's guidance in words to be spoken and deeds to be performed.]
4 The day [of the Lord's appearance in your heart] is at hand [near]. Put on the armor of light. As you are purified, the light rises in you heart, like the day star or morning star, to shine in our heart and allow you to see the glory of God in the face of Christ Jesus. To put on light, is to abide [live, remain] in the light, where no devil can come; dwell in the light. George Fox writes of this:
‘The night is far spent, and the day is at hand; let us cast off therefore the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light.’ This armor of light is not natural, but divine and spiritual, to all the children of the light, and of the day. This armor of light is before darkness was, and the devil the power of it, and he, the power of darkness cannot pierce through this armor of light; and this armor of light is above all natural and carnal armor; and all the children of the light, that walk in this light, and this armor, they walk honestly, and decently, as in the day; for those who walk in ‘not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature,’ such are naked concerning the armor of light, and though they may make profession of Christ, they do not put him on.
