14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts of it.
|1 Peter 4:1-3|
1 Therefore, since Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same mind because he who has suffered in the flesh is finished with sin,
2 So that you should not live the rest of your time in the flesh in the lusts of men, but [live] to the will of God.1
3 For the time that is past is sufficient for us to have done what the Gentiles do, when we walked in sensuality, lusts, excess of wine, reveling [partying], banqueting, and abominable idolatries [wanting or valuing anything as much as, or more than God]. [From the Word of the Lord within: "Modesty: be modest in all things."]
|2 Timothy 2:22 |
22 Flee youthful lusts; but aim at and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, in the company of those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. [Righteousness must be sought, pursued, and aimed at. We must seek His righteousness as the highest priority in our life. Mat 6:33. We must patiently wait, by faith, through the Spirit, for the hope of righteousness, Gal 5:5. Our obedience to what we hear the Lord speak to us leads to righteousness. Rom 6:16. Paul speaks of a fellowship with others who have a pure heart. Blessed are those are pure in heart for they shall see God, Mat 5:8; For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Cor 4:6.]
