19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are: sexual immorality (including adultery and fornication), impurity, lust, [The works of the flesh are sin, and the wages of sin are death. From the Word of the Lord within: "Consequence-free sin does not exist; the consequences are truly staggering. There is a war you must win: sin must be overcome; the fleshly lusts war against your soul."]

20 Idolatry (including covetousness), sorcery, hatred, arguments, jealousy, anger, ambition, divisiveness, factions, [From the Word of the Lord within: "Do not be misled; anger must be eliminated to enter the kingdom."]

21 Envy, drunkenness, revelry (partying), and the like; which I say beforehand, as I have said before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.4 [All men do works of the flesh because their hearts are defiled until they have been crucified on the inward cross of self-denial, and in no way shall there enter into heaven anything that is defiled. Rev 21:27. Fruit of the flesh includes: sexual immorality, uncleanness, covetousness, filthiness, foolish talking, jesting, profanity, adultery, lack of restraint, sorcery, hatred, arguments, jealousies, rage, selfish ambition, divisiveness, envies, murders, drunkenness, revelries (partying), evil thoughts, fornications, wickedness, deceit, blasphemy, pride, anger, boasting, flattery, immodesty, immorality, and foolishness; any of these disqualify any man from heaven.]

8 But now put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, and filthy communication out of your mouth.

9 Do not lie to one another,5 wholly strip off the old man with his deeds; [If you are still lying, you are in your flesh, the old man with his deeds, his fruit of the flesh that includes: sexual immorality, uncleanness, covetousness, filthiness, foolish talking, jesting, profanity, adultery, lack of restraint, sorcery, hatred, arguments, jealousies, rage, selfish ambition, divisiveness, envies, murders, drunkenness, revelries (partying), evil thoughts, fornications, wickedness, deceit, blasphemy, pride, anger, boasting, flattery, immodesty, immorality, and foolishness; any of these show the heart is still full of evil and disqualify any man from heaven.]

Romans 8:13

Display Chapter and Footnotes

13 For if you live according to the flesh [the sinful nature], you will die; but if through the Spirit you mortify [put to death] the deeds of the body, you will live.4 [Therefore mortify [put to death] the deeds of the body which are of the earthly life; fornication, impurity, inordinate affections, evil lusts of the flesh, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Col 3:5. Strip yourselves of your former nature that controlled your conduct, which corrupts itself through lusts and desires that spring from delusion. Eph 4:22]

Ephesians 2:2

Display Chapter and Footnotes

2 Where in times past you walked according to the ways of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air [Satan], which is the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience. [Until you are obediently guided by the Spirit of Christ in all thoughts, words, and deeds, you are a child of disobedience: a descendant of Adam, the disobedient, fallen man; and until you have crucified that selfish, Satanic spirit within you, you are walking according to Satan's direction, which is walking in lust, fulfilling the desires of your flesh and the thoughts of your carnal mind.]

Ephesians 2:3

3 Among whom we also all had our conduct in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the thoughts of our mind; and were by nature the children of wrath and the object of His indignation, just as the rest of mankind.1 [Notice! All mankind walks in sinful lusts, according to the desires of their flesh and thoughts of their mind, which is under Satan's direction. However, Paul is speaking to crucified believers, who are no longer controlled by the lusts of their flesh; who no longer think their own thoughts, whose sinful nature has been destroyed, including their carnal mind, replaced by the mind of Christ.]

Ephesians 4:17

17 Therefore, this I say and testify in the Lord, that from this time forward you must not walk as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, [which is to think thoughts with the carnal mind of man, which must be destroyed, to be replaced by the mind of Christ. From the Word of the Lord within: "Your thoughts are not my thoughts. At best your thoughts are a vain hiss. It is many thoughts that make the mortal man. Those who follow their own brain will weep and mourn; there will be great pain. The mind is a terrible thing."]
