Genesis 19:15-17,22-26 Display Chapter and Footnotes   15 And when the morning came, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, "Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here; lest you be consumed in the iniquity and punishment of the city. 16 But when he hesitated, the men took him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand and brought them forth and set them outside of the city, for the LORD was merciful to him. 17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth, that they said, "Escape for your life! Do not look behind you or stay anywhere in the plain! Escape to the mountain, lest you be consumed." 22 Make haste and escape there, for I cannot do anything until you have reached there." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar [little]. 23 Now the sun had risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. 24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; 25 And he overthrew those cities and all the plain and all the inhabitants of the cities, and all that grew upon the ground. 26 But his wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. |
