14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold firm the beginning of our confidence to the end, [We can enter union with Christ and God if we through the Spirit mortify the sinful nature, which occurs if we heed and obey Him as we persistently and patiently wait for Him. To wait on God is to persistently sit in humble silence, listen for his voice and words, watch for his revelations, hear his commands, and then obey His voice.]
30 And do not grieve the holy Spirit of God, by whom you are sealed unto the day of redemption.8 [By obedience you receive the seal of the Holy Sprit, but you are still not redeemed. George Fox writes of when you are redeemed: "Men are justified by the believing, and in the faith and by the faith, and in believing they overcome, and have victory; and there are mortification, and sanctification, and redemption, and justification, all possessed together in the one, which is Christ, and this to the particular satisfaction."]
|2 Corinthians 1:13|
13 For we write nothing to you, other than what you may read and understand, which I hope you will understand, even to the end;1
19 By your steadfast endurance do you possess your soul.2 [For salvation, (to save your soul), you must patiently endure in waiting, tribulations, suffering, and obedience in order to mortify and crucify your sinful nature on the inward cross of self-denial. From the Word of the Lord within: "To endure on the cross is dying. Salvation comes to those who heed and obey. Salvation comes to those who wait. Be like the early Church, who for inexpressible joy endured to the end."]
3 And have persevered, and have patience, and for my name's sake have labored, and have not fainted.
|Luke 8:15 |
15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word, keep it in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with steadfast endurance. [Every believer who takes up the inward cross of self-denial will eventually undergo a trial of their faith with affliction and persecution. Some will be offended and fall away, back into the world. "By your steadfast endurance do you possess your soul." Luke 21:19. Those who endure and persevere to the end, when Christ comes to bruise the head of Satan under your feet, produce fruit to perfection, which honors and glorifies the Father.]
