|Isaiah 60 |
1 [This is a prophecy of Christ's success to come, after he was crucified. Christ lives as the Light within each man. The Jews rejected Christ, but the Gentiles come to Christ the Light. And in the next life, those who had previously become a part of the body of Christ on earth, (his feet), will also be glorified.]
1 "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.
2 For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. [What rising? The morning star, who is Jesus, rises in your heart after you have been cleansed and purified through obedience to the spoken commands of the Lord you hear as you persistently wait on Him.]
4 Lift up your eyes round about, and see! They all gather themselves together, they come to you; your sons shall come from far, and your daughters shall be nursed at your side.
5 Then you shall see and be radiant, and your heart shall reverently fear and be enlarged [swell] with joy; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted to you, the forces of the Gentiles shall come to you.
6 Multitudes of camels shall cover your land, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come; they shall bring gold and incense;1 and they shall proclaim the praises of the LORD.
7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you; they shall be accepted on my altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.
8 Who are these who fly like a cloud, and like the doves to their dovecotes?
9 Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish will come first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, to the name of the LORD your God, to the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.
10 And the sons of strangers shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you; for in my wrath I struck you, but in my favor I have had mercy on you.
11 Therefore your gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day or night; so that men may bring the forces of the Gentiles to you, and that their kings may be brought.
12 For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; yes, those nations shall be utterly wasted.
13 The glory of Lebanon shall come to you, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
14 Also the sons of those who afflicted you shall come bowing to you; and all those who despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15 Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man passed through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, a joy of many generations.
16 You shall drink the milk of the Gentiles, and shall suck the breast of kings; and you shall know that I the LORD am your Savior and your Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
17 Instead of brass I will bring gold, and instead of iron I will bring silver, and instead of wood brass, and instead of stones iron. I will make peace your officers, and righteousness your rulers.
18 Violence shall no more be heard in your land, nor wasting or destruction within your borders; but you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.
19 The sun shall no more be your light by day; nor shall the moon give light to you for brightness; but the LORD will be an everlasting light to you, and your God will be your glory.
20 Your sun shall no more go down; nor shall your moon withdraw itself; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended.
21 And your people shall all be righteous; they shall inherit the land forever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, so that I may be glorified.
22 The least one shall become a thousand, and the small one a strong nation. I, the LORD will hasten it in its time."2

1 all those from Sheba shall come; they shall bring gold and incense; There is no agreement among historians where Sheba was, whether in the Ethiopian region or across the sea reaching into Arabia (Yemen), even as far as Iran. According to Iranian tradition, the Magi who visited the infant Jesus traveled from Saveh, and are buried among its ruins. Marco Polo described the tombs of the Magi in his travel book, Il Milione. The mention of bringing gold and frankincense matches the account in Matthew 2. So here is another Biblical prophecy of Jesus fulfilled.
2 Speaking about the Lord Jesus: And your people shall all be righteous; they shall inherit the land forever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, so that I may be glorified. The least one shall become a thousand, and the small one a strong nation. I, the LORD will hasten it in its time. A look into the future, into other worlds: So the children of the Lord each become a people of at least a thousand and even small ones (with a small measure of Christ) will become strong nations. A hint of what eye has not seen, nor ear heard, of those things God has prepared for those who love him and are called to his purpose, (to be called to his purpose, is to be doing his will, not your will — to be prompted by God for all your thoughts, words, and deeds).
