|Job 25 |
1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered, and said,
2 "Dominion and fear are with Him, he makes peace in His high places.
3 Is there any number to His armies? And upon whom does not His light arise?1 [The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. Pro 13:9]
4 How then can man be justified with God? Or how can he be clean who is born of a woman?2
5 Behold, even the moon is not bright; yes, the stars are not pure in His sight.
6 How much less man, who is a maggot? And the son of man, who is a worm?"3

1 Bildad says that we all have God's light. The light that we all have is like the grain of a mustard seed, which can grow into the tallest tree in the garden — if it is watered and fed. The Spirit of God within us is chained down by the spirit of Satan sown into every man; which is the spirit of selfishness, greed, covetousness, immorality, impurity, anger, hate, etc. To have seen the light once is not to have been born of the spirit, born of God — it is only God's call to seek him. We must seek him with all our heart, as our the first priority in life; and then if we obey the word's heard from within our heart, the light will arise to reveal the face of Christ Jesus, the glory of God — the day star arises in our hearts. Then the light then is our guide and rule, but not until then.
2 No man can make himself clean. But God can and does, to those who seek by coming to him, listening for his voice, hearing him, and obeying him:
Wash yourself and make yourself clean, put away the evil of your doings..and then come unto me, Isa 1:16-18.
How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed to and watching for your word.... I have retained your word [spoken commands] in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:9,11. (To take heed to and watch for your word, is to listen, pay attention, and obey the words heard.)
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Eph 5:25-26. (So by listening to his words, and obeying him, you are cleansed and sanctified).
Sanctify them — purify, consecrate, separate them for yourself, make them holy- by the truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17. (The word of God heard, which is truth, sanctifies.)
Now you are clean through the word that I have spoken to you. John 15:3. (The word is definitely, not referring to the Bible:)
Jesus said, If I do not wash you, you can have no part with me. John 13:8.
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7.
And for their sake and on their behalf, I sanctify (dedicate, consecrate) myself, that they also may be sanctified (dedicated, consecrated, made holy) through the truth. John 17:19.
He has forever totally cleansed and perfected those who are made holy. Heb 10:14.
3 Bildad is dead wrong in this statement that man cannot be made pure; man can be made pure by God.
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand. Dan 2:10.
Your souls are purified in obeying the truth, through the spirit. 1 Pet 1:22. Your heart is purified by faith. Acts 15:9.
Therefore having these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Cor 7:1.
When he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone with this hope purifies himself, just as he is pure. 1 John 3:2-3.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Mat 5:8.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8.
who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from every lawless deed, and purify for himself his own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:14.
