Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
And that same day, in the evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be to you."
And when he had so spoken, he showed them his hands and his side. And when the disciples saw the LORD, they were filled with joy and happiness.
Then Jesus said to them again, "Peace be to you; as my Father has sent me, even so send I you."
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
|Acts 17:24-28 |
God, who made the world and all things in it, since he is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.
Neither is he worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed anything, since he gives to all people life and breath and all things.
He has made from one blood all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined the allotted times and the boundaries of their habitation;
So that they should seek the Lord, and perhaps might feel after him and find him, though he is not far from every one of us. [Paul has just told us the single purpose of this life: to reach out and find God. From the Word of the Lord within: "The earth exists for the saints;" the earth exists to produce saints, who are sons of God with his Spirit in control of their thoughts, words, and deeds, thus to bring pleasure, honor, and glory to God. God is not found in sect meetings; God is not found in the Bible, which only testifies of Him. George Fox wrote: "The Father is in you all, Christ is in you, and the Kingdom of Heaven is in you; there, in your hearts, is where you will find them all. Know him there searching your hearts, and find him there trying your minds and hearts; incline your ears, and give ear to him there, who will render to everyone of you according to your words and works whether they are good or evil."]
For in him we live and move, and have our being;1 as certain of your own poets have said, 'For we are his offspring.'
